The Hyrun are one of the last remaining elven cultures left in all of the charted Ath. Epochs ago, some time after the creation of the Ath (the universe) but before the dawn of Man kind, the world saw the most bloody event that has ever occurred in it’s history. The war of the elves.
Each elven civilization had it’s own visions of perfection, utopia, and paradise, and each viewed itself as entitled to receive that vision. This delusional greed brought about nearly millions of years of battle, in which many races other than the elves were smote beneath cruel golden blades. The ancient genocide finally subsided when the winners crowned themselves. It was a somber victory, for in the struggle and carnage, they had poisoned they earth, and the earth had rejected them.
Most surviving fey have rotted away into the background or become degenerate monsters. The last known pure blooded race of their kind is the Hyrun. With a citizenry rife with lowly, barbarian hunters and spiteful magi elite, the Hyrun elves find themselves on the very brink of extinction. They have watched their numbers dwindle while younger races evolved, and they find themselves displeased. They despise the world for evolving through and abandoning their paradise, and they will see it die before the crawling, beetling infant races despoil it with their filthy presence. Were it not for their waning power, they would begin the slaughter of the Long Hunt anew and cleanse the upstart youth from the plane. They are well aware of course that their days are numbered, and they will stop at nothing to ensure that if they cannot have Ath, no one will.
These are my evil elves! I hate the shit out of elves (barring Dunmer), so I’ve been trying for a long time to make them interesting. They have alabaster white skin, black lightless eyes, live in an extremely secluded and small part of Oold, have bred and kept subserviant dinosaurs since before the fall of the elves, and like to hunt dangerous monsters, animals, and humans for sport.
Theirs is a cold and alien hatred, and reason does not allow it to subside. They know perfectly well and good how badly they fucked up and how great the odds are that they’ll never claim the world again, and they don’t like it. They don’t like it one bit. It’s enough to make them steal babies, decapitate woodsmen, and rape humans in a futile attempt to reestablish themselves.
I sketched these up as a concept for a wild elf barbarian to play as in D&D; just in case my wizard lizard or myfarian druid aren’t acceptable at new tables. He’s got raptor feather, cloth, hide, and fur garb, a pathwork armor theme of scale mail and dinosaur scales, lots of trophies, and a pachycephalosaurus cranium as a shield.
I don’t know which design to pick, though I’m leaning towards the rapotor head trophy, and I want to name him either Rudowt, Furok, or Chogo. I dunno what to pick there either… :<
